A fog bow is a phenomenon similar to a rainbow that appears as a bow in fog rather than in rain. Because fog bows form from water droplets far smaller than those in rain, typically under 0.05 millimeters across, their colors are largely washed out by the diffraction effects of the tiny droplets, so a fog bow usually appears mostly white rather than showing the vivid spectrum of colors seen in an ordinary rainbow.
