A pegmatite is an igneous rock with a very coarse texture, its interlocking crystals usually larger than one centimeter and sometimes larger than a meter. Most pegmatites have a granitic composition dominated by quartz, feldspar and mica, and they form from the last fluid fraction of a large crystallizing magma body.
