Tessellated Pavement

Landform Concepts

In geology and geomorphology, a tessellated pavement is a relatively flat rock surface subdivided into polygons by fractures, frequently systematic joints, within the rock. It takes its name because the fractured polygonal blocks resemble the tiles of a mosaic floor, or tessellations.
