Exuma is a district of the Bahamas made up of more than 365 islands and cays stretched across a chain about 130 miles long. The largest island, Great Exuma, is roughly 37 miles long and is linked by bridge to Little Exuma; George Town on Great Exuma, founded in 1793, is the district capital. The Tropic of Cancer crosses Pelican Beach on Little Exuma. The islands cover about 72 square miles of land, and after resort development and expanded air service brought rapid growth in the 2000s, the district had grown to 7,293 residents by 2022.
