Islands and Archipelagos

The Magdalen Islands are a Canadian archipelago of a dozen islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, known in French as the Iles de la Madeleine. Since 2005 the archipelago has been divided into two municipalities, the majority-francophone Municipality of Iles-de-la-Madeleine and the majority-anglophone Municipality of Grosse-Ile, both part of the Gaspesie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine region of Quebec.
