South China Sea Islands

The South China Sea Islands are a collection of more than 250 islands, atolls, cays, shoals, reefs and seamounts scattered across the South China Sea, grouped into three main archipelagos. Most of the individual landforms are low coral reef and sand formations built up from marine sediment and coral growth, and the group supports distinct patterns of rainfall, flora, seabirds and sea turtles.
