Chagos Archipelago

The Chagos Archipelago, or Chagos Islands, is a group of seven atolls comprising more than 60 islands in the Indian Ocean, about 500 kilometers south of the Maldives. The chain forms the southernmost archipelago of the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge, a long submarine mountain range, and includes the Salomon Islands, Nelsons Island, Peros Banhos, the Three Brothers, Eagle Islands, Egmont Islands, Danger Island, and Diego Garcia, by far its largest island. With only a few very small exceptions, all of its islands are low-lying atolls set around lagoons.
