Archipelago of Saint-Pierre Lake

The Archipelago of Lake Saint Pierre comprises 103 islands in the western part of Lake Saint Pierre in Quebec, Canada, divided into two groups, the Islands of Berthier to the north and the Islands of Sorel to the south. About 2,600 people lived on the islands as of 2011 across twenty-two coastal villages, with the islands of Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola, Dupas and Castors linked to the north shore of the St. Lawrence River by a small network of bridges and a ferry connecting Sorel to Saint-Ignace Island, the largest in the archipelago, while most other islands are reachable only by boat and are used mainly for agriculture and grazing.
