Ayau Islands

The Ayau Islands, sometimes called the Ayu Islands and historically the Ajoe Islands under Dutch colonial rule, are a small archipelago in the Raja Ampat Islands of Indonesia's Southwest Papua province, lying south of the Asia Islands and north of Waigeo Island, from which they are separated by the Bougainville Strait. The group is built from two coral atolls comprising five islands in total, two of them uninhabited, with the largest named islands being Pulau Ayu, Pulau Reni and Pulau Kanobe and a highest point of 106 meters. The islands are an important breeding ground for leatherback turtles and, along with the wider Raja Ampat Islands, are a destination for snorkeling and diving.
