Schnalstal

Valleys

The Schnalstal is a side valley of the Vinschgau in the autonomous province of South Tyrol, Italy, lying almost entirely within the municipality of Schnals, with small parts near its entrance in Naturns and Kastelbell-Tschars. The Vernagt-Stausee reservoir sits within the valley, and the rare Braunes Bergschaf sheep breed is raised there. In 1991 Otzi, a well-preserved natural mummy dating to about 3300 BC, was found in the nearby Schnalstal glacier.
