The Zumaia flysch is a sequence of near vertical, alternating sedimentary rock strata exposed along roughly thirteen kilometers of coastline near the town of Zumaia in Spain's Basque Country, part of the Basque Coast Geopark. The tilted, continuously stacked layers of sandstone, marl and limestone record an unusually complete and readable span of geologic time, including a layer marking the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary, the interval associated with the asteroid impact and mass extinction that ended the age of the dinosaurs.
