Yana is a karst rock formation in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India, within the Western Ghats, centered on two limestone and dolomite spires called Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and Mohini Shikhara, rising about 120 and 90 meters. The formations began karstifying in the Precambrian, roughly 2.7 billion years ago, shaped by rainwater weathering and erosion of the underlying rock and further altered by tectonic processes; around 61 related karst features, including caverns and sinkholes, have been recorded within 3 kilometers of the site. The Geological Survey of India designated Yana Caves a National Geological Monument.
