Winslow Reef is an underwater reef at the northernmost and westernmost edge of the Phoenix Islands, part of the Republic of Kiribati in the central Pacific Ocean, about 120 miles north-northwest of McKean Island. The reef stretches roughly 1.6 kilometers east to west and 0.8 kilometers wide, with a shallowest point of 11 meters over a bottom of pink coral and red sand. It lies within the Phoenix Islands Protected Area and borders the Howland and Baker Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States, and was first reported on November 9, 1840, by Captain Michael Baker of the whaler Gideon Howland; Robert Louis Stevenson sailed over the area in 1889 without locating it.
