Viñales Valley is a karstic depression in the Pinar del Río Province of Cuba, covering about 132 square kilometers and marked by limestone hills called mogotes that rise as high as 300 meters. UNESCO designated the valley a World Heritage Site in 1999 in recognition of its traditional tobacco growing techniques and a cultural landscape blending indigenous, African and Spanish influences.
