The Verde Valley is a valley in central Arizona in the United States, about 40.5 miles long, formed around the Verde River as it flows beneath Mingus Mountain and the Mogollon Rim. The Verde River is one of Arizona's few remaining free-flowing river systems, supplying habitat for fish and wildlife, water for agriculture and recreation, and drinking water for more than two million people in the greater Phoenix area. The valley is also one of Arizona's three viticulture regions and contains the Verde Valley American Viticultural Area.
