The Unteraargletscher, literally the Lower Aare Glacier, is the larger of the two sources of the Aare river in the Bernese Alps. It forms from the union of the Finsteraargletscher and the Lauteraargletscher and flows about six kilometers east down to the Grimselsee near the Grimsel Pass; in 1973 it measured 12.95 kilometers long and 29.48 square kilometers in area, with its lower end almost 400 meters below that of the neighboring Oberaargletscher.
