The Trans-Karakoram Tract is an area of about 5,200 square kilometers north of the Karakoram watershed, including the Shaksgam Valley, administered as part of the Xinjiang region of China. The tract lies among some of the highest and most forbidding mountains on Earth, including K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum peaks.
