A tepui, also spelled tepuy, is one of a family of table top mountains or mesas found in northern South America, chiefly in Venezuela, western Guyana and northern Brazil. The word tepui comes from the language of the Pemon, the indigenous people of the Gran Sabana who inhabit the region, and means house of the gods.
