Strandflat is a landform typical of the Norwegian coast, consisting of a flattish erosion surface across the shore and the seabed just offshore. In Norway strandflats have long supported settlement, agriculture and fishing, and similar surfaces occur in other high latitude coastal regions, including Antarctica, Alaska, the Canadian Arctic, the Russian Far North, Greenland, Svalbard, Sweden and Scotland.
