Scarborough Shoal, also known as Bajo de Masinloc, Huangyan Island, Minzhu Jiao, Panatag Shoal and Panacot, is a coral atoll and reef in the South China Sea. It carries an inner lagoon and several rocks that remain above the surface at high tide, and it lies between Macclesfield Bank to the west and the Philippine island of Luzon to the east, its nearest landmass at about 220 kilometers away.
