Salzachöfen is a narrow gorge in the Northern Limestone Alps of Austria, protected as a natural monument in the Hallein district of Salzburg state, just south of Golling an der Salzach. Carved by the Salzach River as it briefly turns east through an S-bend cut into limestone between the Hagen Mountains to the west and the Tennen Mountains to the east, the gorge reaches a maximum depth of 60 meters and displays natural rock arches along its length. It marks the point where the Salzach leaves the broad valleys of the Central Eastern Alps and enters more open country to the north.
