The Salvation Islands are a group of small islands of volcanic origin about 11 kilometres off the coast of French Guiana and 14 kilometres north of Kourou, in the Atlantic Ocean. Named because missionaries once went there to escape plague on the mainland, they are administratively part of the Cayenne commune despite lying closer to Kourou.
