The Rowley Shoals are a group of three atoll-like coral reefs in the Indian Ocean south of the Timor Sea, about 260 kilometers west of Broome in Western Australia, rising steeply from the edge of one of the world's widest continental shelves. The group consists of Mermaid Reef, Clerke Reef and Imperieuse Reef, each covering roughly 80 to 90 square kilometers with almost no land area above water.
