Rotuma Group

The Rotuma Group is a group of volcanic islands centered on Rotuma Island, about 465 kilometers north of Fiji in the Pacific Ocean and administered as a dependency of Fiji. Near the main island lie smaller islands within its fringing reef, including Solnohu and Solkope, and a separate chain including Uea, Hatana, and Hạfliua extends 3 to 6 kilometers northwest and west of Rotuma western tip. The group covers 44 square kilometers in total, 43 of them on Rotuma itself, which alone is permanently inhabited, with a population of 2,810 recorded in the 1996 census.
