The Rongbuk Glacier lies in the Himalaya of southern Tibet, fed by Mount Everest and joined by its East and West Rongbuk tributary glaciers. It flows north to form the Rongbuk Valley, where meltwater collects in a proglacial lake at the glacier's foot near the historic Rongbuk Monastery.
