Rig-e Jenn, meaning dune of the jinn and also known as the Desert of Spirits, is a sand dune field straddling Semnan and Isfahan provinces within Iran's Dasht-e Kavir, the Great Salt Desert. Local folklore holds that the dunes are inhabited by malevolent spirits and demons, and that anyone who ventures into them is destined never to return.
