Rebmann Glacier is a small mountain glacier near the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a remnant of the much larger ice cap that once crowned the mountain. It is named for Johann Rebmann, the German missionary and explorer who in 1848 became the first European to report snow and glaciers atop Kilimanjaro. The glacier has a moraine and talus terminus and is currently retreating, part of a broader collapse in which Kilimanjaro lost about 82 percent of its glacial ice between 1912 and 2000.
