Rakaposhi, also known as Dumani, stands in the Karakoram range in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, between the Nagar and Bagrote valleys, an extremely broad mountain measuring almost 20 kilometers from east to west. It is a non-volcanic peak notable for descending directly and without interruption for almost 6,000 meters from its summit to its base, the only peak on Earth known to do so. This entity documents Rakaposhi specifically as a geological formation, the Karakoram peak with the greatest uninterrupted vertical drop from summit to base of any mountain on Earth.
