Rabjerg Mile is a migrating coastal dune in northern Jutland, Denmark, between the towns of Skagen and Frederikshavn, and the largest moving dune in northern Europe at about 2 square kilometers and 40 meters high. Wind has driven roughly 4 million cubic meters of sand northeastward since it began forming in the Skagerrak coastal region more than 300 years ago, at a pace of up to 18 meters a year, leaving a low, damp trail of sand behind it as it goes.
