The Prince Edward Islands are two small uninhabited subantarctic islands in the southern Indian Ocean, Marion Island and Prince Edward Island, administered by South Africa. Both are volcanic in origin, with Marion Island forming one of the peaks of a large underwater shield volcano that remains active and last erupted between 1980 and 2004.
