Portland Reef, known in French as Banc Portland, is a submerged shoal in the Gambier Islands of French Polynesia, lying about 68 kilometers southeast of the main Gambier group and 30 kilometers south-southeast of Tēmoe Atoll, in the far southeastern Tuamotu Archipelago below the Tropic of Capricorn. It takes the form of a submarine atoll structure, a ring of coral reef that never breaks the ocean surface, lying at a depth of about 10 meters. The reef falls under French Polynesian administration and remains largely undeveloped in the available sources.
