The Pitcairn Islands are a group of four volcanic islands in the remote southern Pacific Ocean, forming the only British Overseas Territory in the Pacific. The four islands, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno, are scattered across several hundred kilometers of ocean and together cover a combined land area of about 47 square kilometers. Only Pitcairn Island itself is inhabited, with the settlement of Adamstown as its sole community, and the territory remains under British sovereignty with its own local government.
