In geology, a pinnacle, also called a tower, spire, needle, monument, or natural tower, is an individual column of rock standing isolated from other rock, rising as a vertical shaft or spire. It is a natural geomorphological and structural denudation feature, typically tall, slender, and reminiscent of a built tower in outline, and a particularly narrow example of the form is sometimes distinguished as a rock needle.
