A pinge, also called a binge, is a wedge-, ditch-, or funnel-shaped depression in the ground surface found in German-speaking parts of Europe, caused by mining activity rather than a purely natural process. It typically forms when old underground mine workings close to the surface collapse. The term has no exact English equivalent, though it is sometimes translated as mining sinkhole, mine slump, or glory hole.
