The Oriental Basin, also known as the Libres-Oriental Basin, the Oriental-Serdan Basin, or the San Juan Plains, is an endorheic basin in east-central Mexico covering about 4,959 square kilometers across the states of Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz. Because the basin has no outlet to the sea, drainage within it collects, evaporates, or infiltrates rather than reaching the ocean.
