In geomorphology, a nubbin is a small, gently sloping hill with a bedrock core studded with rounded residual blocks. The blocks come from disintegrated and weathered layers of bedrock, and are thought to be the remnants of the outer exfoliation shells that weathered away underground before the boulders were exposed at the surface, where some weathering continues.
