Murchison Glacier is an 18-kilometre (11 mi) glacier in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park in New Zealand Southern Alps, on the South Island, lying between the Malte Brun Range to the east and the Liebig Range to the west. It descends from the Tasman Saddle at 2,435 metres to about 1,110 metres, flowing mostly southwest, and its meltwater feeds the Murchison River, which later flows beneath the larger Tasman Glacier before continuing downstream. It is named for Roderick Murchison, a founder of the Royal Geographical Society.
