Mount Muhabura

Mount Muhabura stands on the border between Rwanda and Uganda within the Virunga Mountains, part of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift, reaching an elevation of about 4,127 meters, the third-highest of the range's eight major peaks. It is an inactive volcano whose summit holds a small crater lake, and though its own eruptive record is undated to any precise year within the Holocene, the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Program has noted recent activity at a nearby parasitic crater on its flank. This entity documents Mount Muhabura specifically as a geological formation, the third-highest peak of the Virunga chain and an inactive volcano with a summit crater lake.
