Mount Augustus is a large rock formation in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, commonly cited as the largest monolith in the world, roughly twice the mass of Uluru. It is a monocline, a broad, gently folded arch of sedimentary conglomerate and sandstone draped over an ancient granite core, exposed as the surrounding land eroded away. The formation is known to the local Wajarri people as Burringurrah.
