Mount Apo

Mount Apo rises on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, its peak visible from Davao City about 45 kilometers to the northeast, Digos 25 kilometers to the southeast, and Bansalan 20 kilometers to the west, straddling the tripartite border of Davao City, Davao del Sur and Cotabato. It reaches an elevation of about 2,954 meters, the highest mountain peak in the entire Philippines. It is a large, dormant stratovolcano with active solfataric (sulfur-emitting) fields, part of the Apo-Talomo mountain range, and it is a protected area forming the centerpiece of Mount Apo Natural Park.
