McCarty Glacier is a tidewater glacier in the Harding Icefield, within the Kenai Mountains of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, named for former Seward resident William McCarty. The glacier has retreated dramatically since the early 1900s, its terminus pulling back 15 kilometers from the mouth of the bay, a change documented by comparing photographs of its extent in 1909 and 2004. It now covers about 15 square miles and continues to retreat.
