Mapia Atoll, also historically known as the Freewill Islands or San David, is an atoll in the Pacific Ocean in Indonesia's Papua province, about 190 kilometres north of Manokwari. It consists of the two main islands of Bras and Pegun along with the smaller Fanildo and two minor islets, had a population of 199 at the 2020 census, and was once claimed under Spanish sovereignty before passing through German and Dutch colonial administration; its now-extinct Mapia language was spoken on the islands until the end of the twentieth century.
