The Machoi Glacier is a 9 kilometer long glacier in the Himalayan range in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, India, at an average elevation of 4,800 meters. It lies about 30 kilometers west of Drass, Ladakh, and roughly 8 kilometers east of Sonamarg along NH 1D near the Zojila pass, on the highway southern side. The glacier feeds two rivers flowing in opposite directions, the westward flowing Sind River and the eastward flowing Dras river, and its eastern terminus sits below Machoi Peak, the area highest point at 5,458 meters. Like many Himalayan glaciers, it has been melting at alarming rates because of global warming.
