Louisiade Archipelago

The Louisiade Archipelago is a string of about ten larger volcanic islands, often fringed by coral reefs, together with some 90 smaller coral islands, lying 200 kilometres southeast of New Guinea in Papua New Guinea. It stretches over more than 160 kilometres across roughly 26,000 square kilometres of ocean between the Solomon Sea and the Coral Sea, with a total land area of about 1,871 square kilometres, the largest island being Vanatinai.
