Lofoten is an archipelago and traditional district in the county of Nordland, Norway, known for dramatic mountains and peaks alongside open sea, sheltered bays, beaches, and untouched land. Its two towns are Svolvaer and Leknes, with Leknes lying about 169 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. The archipelago experiences one of the world's largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude.
