Lembert Dome is a granite dome in Tuolumne County, California, within Yosemite National Park, reached from Tioga Road in Tuolumne Meadows about 8 miles west of the Tioga Pass Entrance. It reaches an elevation of 9,455 feet (2,882 meters) with a topographic prominence of 290 feet (88 meters), rising roughly 800 feet above the surrounding meadows and the Tuolumne River. Built of Cretaceous-age granite typical of the Sierra Nevada, it is a classic roche moutonnee, a landform with a gently sloped stoss side and a steeper lee side, its rounded shape carved by glacial erosion during past ice ages. Its back side offers a relatively easy Class 1 hike, while its steeper face carries numerous technical free-climbing routes, and the summit gives views of nearby peaks including Unicorn Peak and Cathedral Peak. The dome is named after John Baptist Lembert, who established a homestead in Tuolumne Meadows in 1885.
