The Lehigh Valley is a geographic and metropolitan region formed by the Lehigh River in Lehigh and Northampton counties in eastern Pennsylvania. It is a component valley within the larger Great Appalachian Valley system, bounded by Blue Mountain to the north and South Mountain to the south, spanning about 40 miles in length and 20 miles in width, and its limestone geology and river valley landscape give the region its name.
