Lalu is a natural badlands landscape of rock formations shaped by erosion, covering more than 2,000 rai across two villages in Ta Phraya District, Sa Kaeo Province in eastern Thailand, near the Dangrek Mountains along the border with Cambodia. Its reddish, hard soil resists deep wind erosion but is cut by rain and land subsidence into varied ridges and pillars that continue to change shape from year to year, earning it the nickname the Grand Canyon of Thailand. It resembles the larger, lighter colored badlands of Phae Mueang Phi in Phrae Province.
