The Kangean Islands, also called the Kangean Archipelago, are a group of islands in the Bali Sea within the Lesser Sunda Islands region of Indonesia, administered as part of Sumenep Regency in East Java province. The archipelago holds 118 islands, twenty seven of them inhabited, covering about 653 square kilometers. Kangean Island, the largest at about 490 square kilometers, rises to a highest point of about 364 meters in its northeast. The islands had an estimated population of 166,226 in 2025, and both Indonesian and the local Kangean language are spoken there.
