The Kai Islands are a group of islands in Indonesia's Maluku province, in the southeastern part of the Maluku archipelago historically known as the Spice Islands for crops such as nutmeg, mace and cloves. The surrounding coastal waters are recognized as an area of exceptionally high marine biodiversity within the Coral Triangle.
